Wine Recommendations for November 2009, French Wines For The Holidays!
Wine recommendations for November 2009. The holidays are fast approaching so our thoughts turn to parties, family celebrations, and wine. It sometimes seems overwhelming, and we worry about what wine goes with what dish. If you family celebrations are anything like ours, it gets pretty hard to pair wine and dishes, since we tend to have many different family favorite foods, rather than a coordinated menu.
We include French dishes and Mexican dishes, generational family favorites and new "acquaintances". It seems that every member of the family, and every guest, has a "must have" dish. That dish that spells Thanksgiving, or that brings back childhood memories; and we aim to please, but it can get a little crazy.
With this melange of flavors, what do we do about wine? No problem, we stay with wines that will go well with a variety of foods. They may not be the absolutely perfect match, but they will complement most of the dishes quite well.
You may want to have more than one type of red wine and one type of white wine. You may prefer to have two of each. Since you are the maestro who is directing this special orchestra, you get to decide the direction.
Here are some ideas for you. This month we'll look at French wines. Wines that are well regarded, at great prices, and versatile.
